Debit and Payment Cards on the Rise in North Africa
The use of debit cards remains in its infancy in North Africa, with various levels of penetration from one country to another.
In general, banks have been slow in introducing these payment instruments but interest in utilizing them is rising. In Morocco, the amount used by Moroccan buyers through plastic card payments rose 29.5% in 2008 to settle at MAD 101.4 billion. Continue here.
